Zero Waste · university and municipality pilot
A campus first, then a district: waste pickup requests with a photo
Atikova Collect is a web app that lets the person who has the waste — a student, a staff member, a resident — send a pickup request in a few minutes, with a photo and an estimated fee shown up front. Instead of starting with restaurants, we propose starting with campuses, which have one management and a Zero Waste team already in place.
Plain note: this is a web demo of the main project. Atikova is not a company, no service is running, and no university or municipality has joined. This page is a proposal.
Why now
- COP31 takes place in Antalya on 9–20 November 2026. On 27 October 2026 the COP31 President, Minister Murat Kurum, named Zero Waste the first of its 10 priorities.
- According to the ministry, Türkiye's recovery rate rose from 13% in 2017 to 37% in 2025.
- The ministry's 2024 guide describes a Zero Waste management system for university campuses, and universities filed 3,373 applications with YÖK for COP31.
Why start on a campus
- One management, a bounded area, and a Zero Waste or cleaning team that already works there.
- At move-out time, dorms pile up furniture, electronics and textiles that no recycling bin takes.
- Students already do things by phone, and results can be measured within one term.
- Restaurants are hard: each one decides alone, and waste comes at the busiest hours.
How it works (in short)
- 1Request
What, how much, where, when — five short steps. A photo is optional.
- 2Estimate
If a photo is added, AI estimates the type and volume; it is shown as an estimate and the photo is not stored.
- 3Routing
The request lands on a simple board on the campus or municipal team's phone.
- 4Record
Every request is logged with type, volume, status and time; the coordinator gets a weekly report.
Two proposed phases
1. Campus
Spring 2027 (February–April, 8 weeks)
A university holding a Zero Waste Certificate
- QR posters in faculties and dorms
- The existing campus team collects; no new couriers
- A weekly report to the coordinator
2. District
May–June 2027
With a municipality
- Online requests for bulky items and electronics
- Routed to the municipality's existing crews
- Compared with the phone channel
What we would measure
- Requests and the share with a photo
- Median time from request to pickup
- Estimated vs weighed amount
- Share sent to licensed recovery
- How often the AI estimate is corrected
- User satisfaction
What we ask of a university or municipality
- Feedback and guidance on the proposal
- An introduction to a Zero Waste coordinator
- A limited, KVKK-compliant data-sharing framework
This proposal does not ask for money.
