✳ ATOVIKA COLLECT · SOLO SKILLS · NIGERIA (NG)

One hundred skills for a rider of one, in ten areas of Lagos.

A solo operator is one person and one vehicle — in this app, a fleet of one. Nigeria's pilot in the world sheet starts with four of them, in Surulere. What a rider has to know is not generic advice: it is the law of the state they ride in, the arithmetic of the bike under them, and the building in front of them. Ten areas, ten skills each, one hundred in total.

Read as a whole, they say one thing: the licensed fleet collects roughly a third of what the city throws away, the law requires every household to pay a licensed collector about ₦3,000 a month, and the street's alternative is an illegal ₦300 cement bag. That gap is where a solo rider is lawful — moving recyclables, working under the ward's PSP operator, and reaching the buildings a truck cannot. It is not a licence to take the PSP's household waste.

The areas, and what the big buildings demand

Seven of these areas sit inside the local governments and LCDAs where commercial motorcycle work was banned in 2022 — including Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Apapa, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Somolu and Mushin. Three do not: Festac's Amuwo-Odofin, Alimosho, and Ibeju-Lekki. Each card says which it is, because it decides how a bike may work there.

The big buildings, and what they are

Low-density government reservation homes and office blocks; the state secretariat and its offices sit on the same grid.

Ikeja is the state capital's residential core; office pickups dominate over household bags.

The three lanes a solo rider is lawful in, in Lagos

  1. Recyclables and separated dry waste — the stream the app already prices, and the one no law reserves to the licensed collector.
  2. Under the ward's PSP operator — ask the licensed collector for a subcontract, because about 450 operators cover 377 wards and LAWMA fires the ones that underperform.
  3. Estate and building contracts — a block's caretaker, a developer's site office or an estate association can contract a platoon directly, and the legality question becomes a contract question.

Household mixed waste stays with the ward's PSP. This page states what the published rules say and what the reported figures are; the licence for any given street is confirmed with the local government and the PSP operator — and the app is where that confirmation is logged, not remembered.
